Server 2008 R2 RDP problems - Winlogon 4005 Crash - Windows video subsystem failed

have errors on 3 of terminal servers.  when occurs, new users not able login , existing sessions can't reconnected.


errors see in log when occurs:

winlogon 4005

windows logon process has unexpectedly terminated. 


see 1 in terminalservices-localsessionmanager logs:

event id 20

attempt send disconnect message windows video subsystem failed. relevant status code 0x80070102.


server work fine after reboot, has been quite problematic on past few months.


can't find info on event id 20 log entry i'm hoping @ ms notice thread , pass along assistance.


clients win7 sp1.  we have 20 thin clients.  i noticed yesterday have rdp v7.1 we're in process of updating them 8.1 today.

in addition, please ensure terminal servers patched avoid unexpected issues.

i noticed yesterday have rdp v7.1 we're in process of updating them 8.1 today.

is updating process completed?

if yes, resolve issue?
