Hyper-V 2012 R2 - live migration dynamic memory issue

hi..

we use 2 node hyper-v cluster.

on each node running 5 vm shared 64gb system memory.

the vms configured use dynamic memory. sum of startup (min) memory of 10 vms 50 gb.

so our problem:

if try drain roles on node maintenance purpose 2 vms still on node because wasted each 25gb memory , on node b not enough free memory host vms. that sounds logical

but vms configured use dynamic memory should shrink memory enough space vms? if shutdown vms, move 1 node, works fine.

is design live migration not trigger vm shrink memory?

hi alexander,

dynamic memory means memory can increase or decrease based on demand of vm, not based on load of hyper-v host. if gust os of vm dont need memory, memory released. dont think live migration has role shrinking allocated memory of vm.

since using 2 node cluster, should load 50% resourses on each host incase of failure of second node, first node can have vms.

this calculation become more effective if have more nodes. having  six node cluster , load each host upto 80% in case of single node failure, vms can split on other 5 nodes without issues.

Group policy default policy cannot be edited because network name not found

hey everyone, i have been having issues on , off domain. pdc crashed (the domain controller). started old server , made domain controller , forced roles over. repaired pdc , elevated back. although appeared work found cannot rid of other dc because pdc can no longer contact domain things group policy or else. start secondary , domain magically reachable. although while secondary down can ping domain , replies ip of pdc appears pdc has no control on anything. questions following. 1. gpos created before crash no longer work. rebuilt sysvol , default problem can't edit default domain policy. don't believe having replication problems new repairing domains setting them , maintaining them of education came from.  2. if pdc gpo management console can't access gpos can secondary not have installed? 3. why domain unreachable if no dcs online when shutdown secondary. thanks in advance , try edit dc diag log right there on fails want narrow of out guys concentrate on...

Windows server 2012 r2 inplace upgrade failed
