Troubleshooting Network Access with SBS2008
at first, stellar. now, slow browsing web not option.
the router connected gb switch connected our cisco iad isp.
another router connect gb switch different lan.
the second lan still working fine when first went down. after lot of troubleshooting, swapped ip addresses , seemed better short period of time. then both network started reporting network down.
i have tried million other things, nothing seems work.
i can vpn network, takes while establish connection (and won't connect @ all).
i can rdp server, becomes unresponsive minute or 2 , comes back. drops connection , redials instantly. drops connection , can't reconnect. average amount of time connected 45 seconds (just enough enter password , click on start menu)
any ideas causing these propblems , how fix them?
thanks in advance help,
jase
hello,
thanks post here.
from description, network topology like:
internet
|
|
cisco iad
|
|
gb switch
|
|
router
|
|
sbs 2008 server
am correct?
1. establish vpn connection , rdp from? test vpn/rdp internet or lan (network segment) connected cisco iad?
2. issue unstable network access, i'd know whether there problems on switch , routers. ping –t sbs server lan continually? if ping loses, may take network trace on sbs server verify whether packets received properly. isolate issue.
you can network monitor following link , install on sbs server.
download netmon3.3 following link:
1) install network monitor on sbs server.
2) start capture , try ping sbs server lan/internet.
2) once issue reproduced, stop captures , save network trace files verify whether sbs server receive ping. can send trace log me @ v-mileli@microsoft.com for further investigation.
if have questions or concerns, please not hesitate let me know.
