Broken Windows 2012 R2 Server Manager (Install.wim updated with latest updates 20.01.2016)

hello,

i'm stuck after multiple days of troubleshooting case.

windows 2012 r2 en iso (last available @ ms) : sw_dvd9_windows_svr_std_and_datactr_2012_r2_64bit_english_-4_mlf_x19-82891.iso
windows 2012 r2 update downloaded wsusoffline.
151 patchs added install.wim.

did in past many time procedure without problems.. date.

server install servermanager seems broken. won't install feature juste red cross comming. no error message. no problem installing features via ps

did :

  • run winrm quickconfig shows service running , setup management.
  • restored winrm settings: winrm invoke restore winrm/config @{}
  • restored winrm plugin settings: winrm invoke restore winrm/config/plugin @{}
  • added "127.0.0.1" , "::1" ip listen list (netsh http show iplist resulted empty list)
  • winrm e winrm/config/listener : seems standard
  • winrm winrm/config : seems standard
  • winrm id : seems standard
  • winrm winrm/config/service/auth : seems standard
  • with/without firewall..
  • dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth -> ok
  • dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth -> ok
  • sfc /scannow -> ok

with this, server manager @ least show error messages :

failed open runspace pool. server manager winrm plug-in might corrupt or missing

application log of windows remote management show :

wsman operation createshell failed, error code 2150858811

only thing perhaps of interest found in analytic log show :

runspace id: 6979aff5-9133-46de-bc54-bed52ae8dbed pipeline id: 00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000. wsman reported error error code: -2144108485.   error message: connecting remote server  failed following error message : ws-management service cannot process request. cannot find microsoft.windows.servermanagerworkflows session configuration in wsman: drive on the  computer. more information, ee about_remote_troubleshooting topic.   stacktrace:

well.. can't go further..

based on understanding, upgrading server to window 2012 r2, after installing system, server manager seems broken, can't add new roles via gui.

it looks there may missing during os installation.

as far i'm concerned, may use process monitor check if find out clue:

we may set filter server manager's pid 3864, check if there failed result in process, , find corresponding file check issue.

if above method still can't troubleshoot, may check if use iso install system work around issue, since issue seems complex , is not easy find root cause.
