Printer Driver Install Failed 0x4c7 0x800704c7
hello,
i trying install printer driver on windows server 2012 , getting following error in event viewer under printservice:
installing printer driver - failed, error code 0x4c7, hresult 0x800704c7. see event user data context information.
event id 215
this driver listed on canon oce's site vista 64-bit driver (http://www.oceusa.com/tss/tss_product_detail.jsp?folder%3c%3efolder_id=2534374302162637&product%3c%3eprd_id=845524441902370&bmuid=1367585453575), , able install on server 2008r2 without issue. any ideas check install through on server 2012?
i have tried playing inf file bit see if load properly. have had no luck though, , haven't been able figure out more information on why failing load or 0x4c7 represents.
a search around seems thin on results , no real resolutions problem.
only other possiblity thought try doing export , import 2008r2 2012 server , see if brings in ok then. but guess still error , there bit of effort in export/import 1 driver/printer.
any and/or insight appreciated!
the driver not signed. 2012 not allow installation of unsigned drivers.
but lucky day. since driver development stopped, driver never updated package aware. able install on win8 client build or 2008r2 or win7, take backup using printbrm.exe. since driver not package aware, printbrm.exe backup / install driver using files rather than reviewing bogus cat (security) file came driver.
during restore process, driver corrupts memory of print spooler service service terminate. can set driver isolation policy or perform work during off hours. @ point set isolation on driver.
there kernel security changes can block functionality of older print drivers once have driver installed (restored) make sure working properly.
