DFS: Delegation information for the namespace cannot be queried. The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted.

hi experts,

need urgent on error mentioned in title. getting error "dfs: delegation information namespace cannot queried. specified domain either not exist or not contacted." when trying connect in dfs management console.

users not facing issue while accessing data via dfs. cannot administer dfs anymore due error.

hi all,

i found solution issue.

this everyone.

 

according research, dfs management console depends on rpc end mapped remotely manage dfs namespace , dfs replication. error message may occurred if rpc 135 blocked firewall between 2 dcs. because server has connect pdc access dfs information in active directory, if there configured on firewall blocks connectivity pdc, maybe cause error message mentioned.

i found srv record of pdc missing in dns. created pdc srv record , fixed issue.

you need confirm if pdc domain available under _msdcs in forward lookup zone. if not create necessary subdomain _tcp , _ldap srv entries , fix problem .
