WSUS Clients failing to update clients with error code 0x80072efd.

hello,

having issue our wsus server failing update server based clients.  @ time workstation clients appear unaffected.  have included last 24-hours of log below, relevant error code appears 0x80072efd.  last month experienced same error , per recommendations several sources resolved on effected clients by:

·     stopping windows update service , bits,

·     renaming software distribution folder , deleting gmgr0.dat , gmgr1.dat files

·     restarting windows update service , bits

·     manually triggering synchronization via wuauclt.exe

after performing these steps effected clients received appropriate updates our wsus server , reported correct status server.  however, after approving month's patch's receiving same error.  suggestions causing issue reoccur , how resolve appreciated.

when run tool on servers testing receive following output: bitsadmin version 1.5 [ 5.2.3790.0 ]

you using wrong version of tool.

you need obtain bitsadmin v2.0 tool \support\tools\support.cab file of xp sp2 media kit or win2003 sp1 media kit.

the tool run on client system(s) clear download queue exists on each client system.

to clarify earlier comments.... documentation on win2003 system bits v1.5. bits v1.5 shipped windows server 2003 =rtm= , windows xp =rtm=. wsus uses bits 2.0. bits 2.0 was updated in march 2005 kb842773 update background intelligent transfer service (bits) 2.0 , winhttp 5.1. required update for winxp/win2003 systems. update included in windows server 2003 sp1 , windows xp sp3. bitsadmin.exe not updated patch. needs installed manually.

i see, though, you're reading bitsadmin v1.5 command's screen, not online help, confuse things more.
