Setting permission entries using Group Policy, Windows 2008 R2 & Windows XP

scenario: windows 2008 r2 dc's in mixed mode windows xp clients. have domain users configured local admins on client machines. need change permissions on of folders, , grant users admin access folders, can remove them local admins machines(yes, know, bad practice, of software requires admin rights @ least folder in installed).

i've followed article technet entitled "apply or modify permission entries objects using group policy", , configured such on file system (on specific folders), but, nothing seems happening.

i have verified gp in fact updating (by both rebooting , gpupdate /force). i've done gpresult , looks good, except folder permissions not changing.

hi,

based on test, please make sure policy configured properly:

choose "configure file or folder then", choose "replace existing permissions on subfolders , files inheritable permissions". if it’s correct, narrow down cause, please collect following information research.

on dc, open gpmc, right-click group policy result, choose group policy result wizard, follow wizard collect report of windows xp system. when finish, right-click in right-panel, choose save report. if other community member analyze report, upload file windows live skydrive (http://www.skydrive.live.com/), , paste link here, if not, can send file tfwst@microsoft.com.

in gpmc, select gpo configure permission, switch settings tab, right-click in right-panel, choose save report, upload file skydrive.

thanks.
