x5520 disable unplugged NIC's took my "Cluster Network 1" down.

i got x5520 hp, on 2 blades running windows storage server 2008 r2 enterprise.

there these nic's on each server:

1 gbe public 1

1 gbe public 2

1 gbe public 3

1 gbe public 4

10 gbe public 1

10 gbe public 2

cluster internal

server management

------------------------------

on blade 1 use 10 gbe public 1 , cluster internal.

on blade 2 use 10 gbe public 2 , cluster internal.

this leaves 6 nic's on each blade unused. gives failures in "hardware status" under "system" : error on hp nc365t pcie quad port gigabit server adapter #2 - disconnected

now, know aint real failure. when tried disable unused nic's, cluster network 1 went down. with:

event id 1126 : cluster network interface '791storagec-n2 - cluster internal' cluster node '791storagec-n2' on network 'cluster network 1' unreachable @ least 1 other cluster node attached network.

event id 1129 : cluster network 'cluster network 1' partitioned. attached failover cluster nodes cannot communicate each other on network. failover cluster not able determine location of failure.

event id 1069 :

event id 1177 : cluster service shutting down because quorum lost. due loss of network connectivity between or nodes in cluster, or failover of witness disk.

event id 1040 :

event id 1135 : cluster node '791storagec-n1' removed active failover cluster membership. cluster service on node may have stopped.

now, when went down, migrated ha server other cluster node. that's fine. enabled nic's again. "stop cluster service" , "start cluster service". , seemed fine.
moved "this service or application" original cluster node.
now, seemed normal. but.

15 minutes later...

event id 1126

event id 1129

event id 1135

and -

event id 1049 : cluster ip address resource 'ip address 10.64.10.0' cannot brought online because duplicate ip address '10.64.10.196' detected on network.  please ensure ip addresses unique.

10.64.10.196 ha fs migrated across nodes.

i moved manually...

and now, 1 day later, no problems has occured.
happened exactly?

why aint allowed remove unused nic's clean error messages?
, why did show duplicate ip address?

kind regards
jens

hi,

if want use network adapters on nodes, recommended disable them before create cluster.
