DHCP failover in the same and different VLAN

good day everyone. we're planning make dhcp failover (hot standby) on 2012 r2 server. while thinking deploying, stucked @ 1 question:

our scheme include 1 scope : 10.111.0.0/18 . main dhcp located in same subnet (111 vlan), having ip 10.111.0.4. our standby dhcp have 10.66.40.40 , located in 10.66.40.0/24 subnet (40 vlan). how work? in theory, firstly client make broadcast main dhcp should answer first, router forward using dhcp relay standby server. work normally?

hi,

broadcast reach both dhcp servers active dhcp server respond client's dhcp request.
