WSUS on Windows Server 2012R2 - clients not reporting

i have following setup:

windows server 2012 r2 domain controller wsus server role installed.

all windows 7 pro sp1 clients:

24 clients connect , report , receive updates

6 clients connect, wsus console shows current "last contact" date , "not yet reported" under "last status report" these clients do not receive updates

the 24 clients receive updates running windows update agent 7.6.7600.256

the 6 clients not reporting , not receiving updates running windows update agent 7.6.7600.320

there line in bold text shows error. every client not report has same error.

update 2938066 installed on wsus server.

as test attempted install 7.6.7600.256 windows update agent on 1 of problem machines, cannot uninstall .320 version , cannot install .256 version on top of .320 version.

the wsus role has been removed , reinstalled on windows 2012 r2 server. pc's running .320 version of windows update agent have issue, don't know if issue workstation or wsus server. problem workstations can download , install updates directly microsoft update, not wsus server. have been unable find specific info on issue. can this?

0x80246002 means file digest did not match expected value.

this problem may occur if windows update or microsoft update determines there file hash mismatch when try search available updates windows update web site or microsoft update web site.

to resolve issue, please make bat file command below, run bat file administrator privilege.

  • net stop wuauserv
  • cd %systemroot%\softwaredistribution
  • ren download download.old
  • net start wuauserv
