Task Sequesnce Variable - MDT Question

i have application install stopped working. application triggered off task sequence variable set either yes or no. reason application no longer launch when variable set yes, can run if remove variable check in task sequence. 

in reviewing smsts log file see check variable returns $true, doe not submit command line ztiapplications script. 

my guess somehow viable or corrupt, have not yet tried put in new ts variable see if works.

has seen before?

it sounds wrong within application install (it no longer checking variable, or checks 1 time)
