Looking to confirm a theory with my 2003 R2 and 2008 R2 Domain Controllers
ok, let me give quick overview of server configuration.
i have 2 dc's, 2003 r2 , virtual 2008 r2. 2003 r2 server perminatly on, virutal 2008 r2 server coming on when want use nicer interface , new features (the advanced pack has been installed on 2003 r2 server settings compatible).
now, used drive mapping targetting , printer targetting on virtual 2008 r2 server (by using "common" tab , targetting ou). if server on, , add new computer, new computer can see printer have applied , can see targetted drive. however, if add, or update, computer when 2008 r2 server off, new computer can't see printer, nor can see mapped drive, other group polices applied correctly.
is because method of targetting available in 2008 r2 not 2003 r2? , in 2003 r2 need go printer config , deploy via group policy , map drive via logon script?
troubleshooting has lead me conclusin, nice if confirm it.
thanks guys
hi,

no. clients should able gpp policy applied if windows server 2008 r2 domain controller temporarily offline.
please verify content of sysvol folder synchronized between windows server 2008 r2 , windows server 2003 r2 domain controllers.
meanwhile, meinolf stated, i've moved thread group policy forum.
