Could DFSR demote to FRS?

i'm confused dfsr , frs when turns different windows server version.

if have dc frs, once migrated dfsr, demote frs?

if have domain in 2003 functional level, once promote 2008 functional level, frs migrate dfsr automatically? or should migration manually?

notice in 2008 r2 server(in domain 2003 functional level), both dfsr , frs started.is mean dc using dfsr & frs @ same time? if not, why 2 services both started?

besides, noticed in wiki page,http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/file_replication_service , announced "in windows server 2003 r2 and windows server 2008dfs replication is available the file replication service.

does mean 2k3 r2 dc able migrate frs dfsr?

but in blog:http://blogs.technet.com/b/qzaidi/archive/2012/01/16/quickly-explained-migrate-your-sysvol-replication-from-frs-to-dfsr.aspx

it tells if want make migration, "your domain functional level (dfl) must set windows server 2008 or higher i.e. no windows server 2003 or older domain controllers". how 2k3 r2 dc keep in domain 2k8 domain functional level??????

, there seem question : if requirement of migration raising domain functional level, there sense of raising domain functional level?(i mean of function upgrade need post manually although have raised domain functional level)

hi lasia,

please see part:

windows 2000 server , windows server 2003 use file replication service (frs) replicate sysvol, whereas windows server 2008 uses newer dfs replication service when in domains use windows server 2008 domain functional level, , frs domains run older domain functional levels.

to use dfs replication replicate sysvol folder, can either create new domain uses windows server 2008 domain functional level, or can use procedure discussed in document upgrade existing domain , migrate replication dfs replication.

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd640019(v=ws.10).aspx

so windows server 2008 use frs repliate windows 2003 r2, , if there no system earlier windows 2008, , dfl 2008, perform steps migrate frs dfsr.
