Windows Internet Explorer (7 and 8) Dynamic Installer

hello,

i'm implementing wsus 3.0 sp1. i'm using wds/mdt overall deployment process. reason bring because not use wsus install operating system service packs, dotnet framework versions, , ie 7/8. seperate quiet installs part of task sequence these items. use wsus @ end of process updates only.

need understand 'windows internet explorer 7 dynamic installer' , 'windows internet explorer 8 dynamic installer' for?

example, need select "windows internet explorer 8 dynamic installer" product category in order updates ie8? assuming installed ie8, don't want, , updates fell under general os updates, plus description within wsus console said updates used actual ie installer? when separate installs of ie7/ie8 not pass in dynamic updates parameters. app installed way, , want wsus update @ end of whole deployment process.

don't want wsus install either ie7 or ie8 if machine has either ie7 or ie8 need updated wsus.

clarify me?

the "dynamic installer" categories contain updates designed detected installers products (ie7, ie8, wmp) , installed during product installation.

the actual installer ie8, case ie7, released in "update rollups" update classification, under product category os platform individual package applicable (e.g. windows vista, windows xp, windows server 2003, windows server 2008). updates ie8 released security updates, critical updates, or in other classifications, appropriate, under category os platform, have been ie7 , ie6.

whether populate wsus server dynamic installer categories dependent on whether you're going use feature (which ensures *latest* package installed @ time of original product installlation), or whether you're going put baseline collection of updates in deployment image (or none @ all), , apply latest update via normal wuagent procedures after os deployment completed.

you've indicated want wsus apply latest updates after deployment, "dynamic installer" categories not of much use you, , need sure you're synchronizing standard update classifications (security, critical, update rollups, , updates) , latest update(s) ie7/ie8 approved distribution necessary target groups.
