VSS Issues during backup


server running windows 2008 sp1 , having vss issues.

when attempting run backup, backup fails information in event log information below displayed.  can disable vss , run our backup software fine.  reboots not solve issue , not able backup exchange without vss. please let me know if have suggestions.

hi allaccessit,

 

based on experience, vss system writer can missing due several reasons. to isolate issue, please refer following steps boot problematic server clean boot mode perform test see if issue still exist.

 

steps: clean boot

 

1. on problematic server perform clean boot , check if issue still exists

 

2. click start->run...->type msconfig , press enter

 

3. click services tab , select hide microsoft services , disable third party services.

 

4. click startup tab , disable startup items

 

5. click ok , choose restart

 

if issue still exist, may try following steps see if can fix issue:

- start | run , type dcomcnfg , hit enter key
- expand component services
- expand computers | computer
- right click on computer , choose properties
- select com security
- select edit default on access permission
- add cluster service domain account local access , remote access allowed

if not work add in following also:

- start | run , type dcomcnfg , hit enter key
- expand component services
- expand computers | computer | dcom config
- select ultrabac client exe
- right click , select properties
- click on security tab
- select customize option access permission , click edit button
- add cluster service domain account grant access
