Windows Server 2102 WSUS not downloading updates

hi there,

i have read through other posts on forum , have not found relates problem.

i running standard install of windows 2012 std edition , have added role wsus.

i have checked bits service running, wsus service running , have performed series of routines have found on google.

[issue proxy authentication - patched although not using proxy] [restarted services both bits , wsus] [checked event viewer errors - none reported]
[on gateway server (fw), checked firewall logs, no traffic wsus server unless physically web surfing or ping , external address]
[tried disable windows firewall]

[imported updates catalog server directly]

my server configured by-pass proxy. have visited catalog server try , import updates directly wsus stated above.

i have checked wsus logs , bits logs. nothing reported.

my server doesn't download updates @ all.

i have run windows updates on server , made sure date itself. have synchronized wsus , checks ok.

if @ "all updates" leg of update services console. same updates have sitting there days. said imported updates directly microsoft catalog site, still in list. can check or how fix this?

i have solved part of problem must looks ms need bit more detailed in documentation.

as know wsus depends on bits. did gpedit on server , set bandwidth bits service , made relevant internet connection. future readers:

the issue understand follows:

the updates selected , server 100% correctly setup. updates start , after hour see errors in eventvwr suggest connection disconnected host.

this because of bits service. bits should automatically use available bandwidth. fail mentionin docs bandwidth refers nic, not internet connection. in case getting 2mb per hour on download.

fire gpedit.msc on server. (flag key + r) type cmd press enter. in command shell type gpedit , press enter: navigate [computer configuration-> administrative templates->network->background intelligent transfer service]

if have 10mb internet connection, did permit use of half (5mb) during working hours, , after hours.

in right hand frame double click on [limit maximum network bandwidth bits background...]

i use server 2012 std need adapt if dont. system works in kbps great can set limits according connection no calculations needed. example enter 500 during day , 1000 @ night.

once done restart server.
