i have 2 windows storage server 2003 r2 boxes unable remotely access admin shares (c$, d$, h$, admin$) when logged on system (server or client) non-administrative account input correct admin credentials when  prompted. when logged on server or client system non admin account , attempt access " \\servername\c$ " prompted credentials expected when input administrative username\password " servername\c$ not accessible. might not have permission use network resource..... ". that said, if attempt remotely access admin share of previous versions of server (2000, 2003) when logged on server or client system admin account can access them without problem. note : 1. servers have firewall service disabled , in single site ad domain. 2. 2 storage 2003 r2 servers configured , using dfs namespaces & replication. is there fundamental difference way storage server 2003 r2 handles access admin shares compared previous iterations of windows server may causing issue? if so, can adv

i have rds server setup gateway , several applications.   have lot of users using applications without issue.  i have 1 user has new windows 7 laptop , since getting new laptop can't connect applications.  i can use credentials several other computers without issue, it's computer issue. when signs on prompted domain credentials,  keys them in , gets screen showing applications.  when clicks on application instead of being prompted user id again, gets prompt of rds gateway , when keys in user fails can't find remote server. he user having issue. thanks, hi, comment. when connecting client laptop in rdc, need check has selected “use rd gateway server setting” , specify rd gateway name in server , in logon setting can check “use rd gateway credential remote computer. please refer below article more information. securing remote desktop system administrators hope helps! thanks, dharmesh

good afternoon, i upgraded backup dc server 2008 2012 r2. located on secondary campus hour away , has direct time warner link primary dc (aka runs straight off main campus feed). working great on secondary dc except can no longer rdp or access file shares on backup dc remote computers on main campus. however, can access backup dc main server, terminal server, , our exchange server located on main campus computers located on secondary campus. this led me believe maybe firewall issue, disabled firewalls temporarily no luck. checked of dns forward , reverse zones , seem fine. cleared arp cache no luck , re-added server manually no luck. the problem works in both directions. cannot access of main campus pcs/laptops secondary campus server either. if ping server hostname computer on main campus resolve ip address of secondary server gives destination host unreachable message. is there maybe simple overlooking? was in-place upgrade or did install scratch (the preferred wa

i've been experimenting windows deployment services on windows server 2012 r2, trying deploy server core , join domain unattended. however, when performing unsecure join, "test-user" can succeed when joinrights set full following command: wdsutil /set-device /device:test-wds-client /joinrights:full /user:test-user whereas setting joinrights joinonly result in failure 0x80070005, i.e. access denied. wdsutil doc says,  joinonly requires administrator reset computer account before user can join computer domain. i've reset computer account in both wds mmc console , active directory users , computers, neither way worked. inspecting computer account, acl has 2 more deny aces "test-user" in beginning, when joinrights set joinonly compared full. 1 ace changing password , other resetting password. therefore, these deny aces seems impossible "test-user" join computer domain. interpretation correct? hi, >>i've reset compu

hi, firstly should start saying newbie server 2008 , nps/nap, appreciated. we in planning stages of rolling out nps , nap along hp procurve switches using 802.1x. planning on using nps servers authenticate dial-in users via cisco vpn client. the question is, need install nap on both nps (radius) servers or can pass nap traffic onto 1 server? or microsoft preferred way? as secondary question possible check applications or executables on machine using nap? if possible set variables? many thanks paul hi paul, you can pass traffic 1 nps, or can split between two. decision depends on redundancy needs. think can configure switch send traffic primary , secondary radius server redundancy. of course require sync policies between 2 servers. another option have switch send traffic 1 server forwards request second server. this, set remote radius server group , configure connection request policy foward authentication requests remote group (do on server a). other server (server b) will have aut

hi, i have tested wds server (including legacy mode, dont use) under windows 2003, first time. works fine following exception: i took 1 dell optiplex 780 system windows xp , sp3, master image. prepared sysprep  und loaded wds server (5,8 gb). windows pe made of windows 7  boot.wim. when take optiplex 780 same configuration (including bios settings), installation  resp. deployment, works good. after completion, system boots , got error : error- windows can't start , because there harddiskdrive-configuration problem (translated german). i dont it...i tried use shift + f10 , typed in: bootrec /rebuildbcd /scanos or /fixboot, but nothing of commands work. there no windows installation found , although there in filesystem (every last of 5,8gb) whats problem here?: sata drivers gone, when try deploy someting ?.or issue windows 7-pe boot wds? windows 2008pe doesnt work work our network(i've tried before) should fix problem? greetings well yes. all optiplex have same problem. don
